I think it's funny you asked if it was weird to want carrots and celery in your chili because when you were going over the ingredients I was like, "carrots and celery in chili? hmmm that's weird". =)

I used to add a couple of cans of chili con carne to 4 cans of spaghetti sauce in a crock pot, add lots of garlic, chili powder and sauteed mushrooms... cook it on low all day then boil up some spaghetti sticks, add it to the crock pot and cook it another hour... yummm... Now I live with my sister and niece and there's no longer any room in the kitchen for a crock pot. sigh....

Oh, Kitty trying to get in on the action was definitely the best part!
"Yee haw" is my own special combination of spices, which I purposely left out so I can someday win a big chilli cook off.
