Join us to celebrate Cornwall's Heavy Horses. A Few Cornish Tails is 4 films totalling 2 hrs 42 minutes on 1 DVD. Filmed and Directed by award-winning Natural History, and wildlife cameraman Jeff Goodman and is distributed by Working Horse Films.
This delightful and informative Heavy HorseDVD provides a unique insight to the working horses of Cornwall past and present through the work and lives of:
David Udy and his Shire Horses Ed and Clyde,
Keith Trickey with his logging horse Jimbo,
Morley Locket with old favourite Star and
Sharon Martin with her working horse Nelly.
Horses were once a familiar and essential part of our landscape but the latter half of the 20th. century and the experience of two world wars saw the use of the great working horse supplanted by modern machinery and an increased pace of life.
However, David, Keith, Morley and Sharon along with other dedicated enthusiasts throughout the UK are ensuring that the heavy horse is not relegated to mere nostalgia and spectacle. With them we learn how the country skills are being revived and in regular use. Ploughing, haymaking, gathering crops like potatoes and for commercial purposes like logging and path clearing are all regular activities for the working horse of Cornwall.
