you fucking hipster music know its alls are bemoaning the fact the npr and ward ain't getting the obscure little rock references right that you and your self important use to fill the voids in your charmed and stale lives. they're giving big star serious props here, isn't that what matters?

My dad had a copy of Velvet Underground & Nico, and he never started a band. NPR is too lame to be allowed to mention Alex Chilton, Chris Bell, Big Star or the Velvet Underground.

I don't hate on any media source who writes about good music. Better than nothing at all.

Yeah, the quote is from Brian Eno. The number he gave was 5000. This is an example of a Rock Critic pickin' up a paycheck and spreading the usual kind of misinformation--what, Ed Ward couldn't check the provenance of that quote??--that characterizes rock history. If there's any insight in this NPR report I don't hear it. The timeline is off--Chilton dropped out of sight in late 1981, when he went to New Orleans. This kind of thing is useless. Real writers check their facts beforehand.
