Baltijas Ceļš. Latvijas-Lietuvas robeža.

"Baltic Way" is the event which occurred on August 23, 1989 when approximately two million people joined their hands to form an over 600 kilometer (373 mi) long human chain across the three Baltic states (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania). This original demonstration was organized to draw the world's attention to the common historical fate which these three countries suffered. It marked the 50th anniversary of August 23, 1939 when the Soviet Union and Germany in the secret protocol of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact divided spheres of interest in Eastern Europe which led to the occupation of these three states. Documents recording the Baltic Way were added to UNESCO's Memory of the World Register in 2009.

1989. gada 23. augustā vairāk nekā divi miljoni cilvēku Latvijā, Lietuvā un Igaunijā sadevās rokās, izveidojot Baltijas valstu vienotības ceļu un pieprasot neatkarības atjaunošanu. 1989 m. rugpjūčio 23 d. daugiau nei du milijonai žmonių Latvijoje, Lietuvoje ir Estijoje susikibo rankomis, sukūrė Baltijos šalių vienybės kelią ir pareikalavo nepriklausomybės. 23. augustil 1989 võtsid rohkem kui kaks miljonit inimest Lätis, Leedus ja Eestis kätest kinni, moodustades läbi kolme Balti riigi kulgeva katkematu inimketi oma vabadustahte demonstreerimiseks.

Whether or not the Baltic Way sped up the independence of these three states from the Soviet Union, it is one of the rawest examples of humanity there is. When this many people unite for the same cause, anything can happen. It's too bad that the present state of the world is filled with greed and complacency. Congratulations to you all!
