  • @SlimGangstaGangsta (salutes) S.G.G., You are the Man! HIP HOP AMERICA is most definitely the GREATEST HIP HOP BOOK EVER. You were completely right, George incisively & critically breaks down Hip Hop culture and it's influence within & beyond the the elements.

And let me say it: HIP HOP AMERICA IS THE FOUNDATION FOR THE BIG PAYBACK. Charnas undoubtably was inspired by George's book, whether he admits it or not. Thank you Slim, rock on!

  • @SlimGangstaGangsta Being an honest man I will admit I have not read this. I do own The Death of Rhythm & Blues. Thanks Slim-GG for reminding me of another must have, to Amazon I go...

p.s. : small returned favor: you probably have already read The Big Payback by Dan Charnas. It undoubtably is in the same league as Hip Hop America, word up.

  • @richies1912 greatt, ( if you dont need this anymore)

  • @Pirate7X hip hop anerica, nuff said, the greatest hip hop book, you probarly read it.

  • Nelson is the man! Without pretension he is a renaissance brother who wrote the first true articles on Hip Hop Culture in the late 70's early 80's and has traversed the worlds of film & literature with grace & skill.

My father said his mom, my grandmother, put all his comics into a trunk and set fire to them. Yeah, everybody has a tradgic comic story.

  • yeah, i just read hip hop america. it's a great book...

  • Whether or not someone is considered a nerd or cool has much to do with what crowd you are around. In some communities you can be considered a nerd just for being open minded and having broad interest.

  • im reading hiphop america.... is it good?

  • I just finished reading your bio-city kid, i am enlightened. i am inspired!!
