Ice Storm- NYC February 2nd, 2011 (Pre Dawn)

Winter 2010-2011 continues.... This time around however we didn't win the jackpot in terms of snow fall, we received ice instead! Between midnight and 8am on February 2nd we received .30" of ice and this made for a very dangerous morning commute. It looked like a huge ice skating rink around here this morning. I got up around 4am and shot video locally here in Rego Park, Queens NY. I was planning on heading into Manhattan, but with the transition from freezing rain to rain already occurring as of 7am, I decided to stay put and save a round trip subway fare.

@mnightsky Thanks for watching! That morning the temperature was hovering just a little bit below freezing at the surface, 30F I believe. But the temperature at about 500 feet was a bit above freezing. Perfect conditions for freezing rain and ice!
