If a person is speaking in English; they should say SOCCER instead of football. If speaking a different language, than call it Fútbol, NOT FOOTBALL, Fútbol. English-soccer = SOCCER & football (AS IN NFL) = FOOTBALL.
Spanish- soccer= Fútbol & football= NOT Fútbol! DAMN SPANISH LAGUAGE DRIVES ME CRAZY SOMETIMES; though don't know how I could get crazier. And HANDBALL- NHL? NATIONAL HANDBALL LEAGUE? NO, SUPOSSED TO BE national HOCKEY league, so that is already trademarked.

@elgranelgraf Handegg*

@elgranelgraf But there already is a handball (thank goodness it's unpopular, even if it is an olympic sport)

@elgranelgraf well, little known fact, the ncaa and nfl footballs are 12 inches long. but im in total disagreeance of calling the sport "hand ball" because thats already taken and with soccer, they call it fütbol in spanish instead of calling it pieball (football in spanish) so the sports name isnt actually refering to the foot on a human body, so therefor nobody has a correct argument. oh and by the way sorry for flipping out, that was stupid of me for calling you a disgrace, and stupid.

@rifleman1002 There is? Neat!
-
@ratm52 Actually, it's called "football" because in the entire world, "football" is any sport which is played on foot. It's just that outside the US, football was standardized into what Americans call "soccer", and within the US, it was standardized to become American football. Even people in the UK recognize rugby as just an alternate football sport.

@elgranelgraf wow you are stupid! ITS CALLED FOOTBALL BECAUSE THE ORIGINAL FOOTBALLS ARE A FOOT LONG!!!! 12" youre a discrase
-
@elgranelgraf There is already a sport called handball.

OK. But you STILL should use proper punctuation. You don't go throwing words at random and end your sentence with a bloody question mark.
"You just prove how dumb people can be when they try to prove a point. (full stop) When you try to prove a point, (comma) use proper spelling. (full stop) 'How did you lot come up with soccer?'"
It really helps the person who will read your comment.
I think we Americans should call our football "handball", and "soccer" should be football.

I love how every clip about football (American or actual) always ends in people insulting termonology when it doesn't really matter.
