  • Excellent video. Thank you for the upload. Who do you refer to at the 3min mark? I can't quite make out the name.

  • @richieerror

Thanks. I refer to Ernest Gellner, about whom I would lecture in the following lecture. Alan

  • I must say that having seen the previous six lectures and looking at various of his videos I can only feel gratetfull to have access to such variety of subjects however complex they might be and actually enjoy his way of putting things. Thanks Alan for getting this out for us! This is a fantastic job

  • Thank you - much appreciated. As you see, 'publish (on Youtube) and be damned', but the grateful comments more than make up for this. Alan

  • My only criticism would be that you don't have enough lectures on youtube!

  • Great lecture! Thanxx alot!!

  • Excellent one

  • Thank you very much for posting these lectures.

  • i think the proff fails to portray the weberian concept of sociology. the neokantian roots of it, the key concept of rationality, the mutual orientation of meaning in social acts, hasty words on typology of authority - no mention of dominance & legitimization-

Hearing only about protestant ethic you get a misconception about weber. Well to be fair 45 min its 2 little 4 the above themes nevertheless i think he could do a better job. on making an intro lecture on weber.

  • I love how soft-spoken true intellectuals often are.
