Oh,and,..how sad it is that people take away from what the writter was meaning,saying that its silly religion,etc.He knows what he wanted to say.That we have come so far as to hate anything even remotely related to God,or iconic people,..thats just sooo sad.And,Im not even religious myself.

those arent the original lyrics,by Leonard Cohen.There are different.Cohen wrote this about Biblical people Bathsheba n David,Samson n Delilah,and the Holy Mother Mary.Just do a search in the Wikipedia for this song,and it says there.Cohen said it himself. Just so ya all know.It really IS about the Bible,in the e nd,no matter how anyone takes it.
