On vacation, Captain Olimar of Hocotate is cruising the universe in his spaceship, the Dolphin, when he collides with a meteor above a large planet and is sent spiraling groundward. When he awakes, Olimar finds his ship shattered, with many parts missing. Worse yet, he only has thirty days' of oxygen left in his suit. He is not without hope, however, as he befriends a native species which he names Pikmin. With their help, he sets out to locate his ship's missing parts and return home.

since they are remakeing pikmin for the wii should i sell my gamecube one and get the wii version?

I don't know.  Maybe if it's cheap and you can get a good amount for the original. I'm not really sure it'd be worth it otherwise. All we really know that's different so far are different controls.

on the pikmen wii, you can throw farther cause of the wii remote :)

White and purples are not in the first game.Evil purples are,though.

Red-Fire proof and are strong.

Yellow-can be thrown high and can hold bombs in the first game.Electricity resistant in the second game.

Blues-water proof and can save drowning pikmin.

Purples(pikmin 2)-fall victim to any hazard,count as 10 pikmin when carrying stuff,but are very slow,they can also stun enemies when thrown.

Whites(pikmin 2)-Poison proof and can see things buried underground.
