  • You have also brought up another silly arguement my husband and I have. How can Zed be a letter? It can be a name, or a word and where do you get the d at the end from. It is Z not Z. and H... another funny letter. BAH

  • Why can't we all just get along! I have had similar arguments with people in different regions of the UK that have specific words or pronunciations and will not accept there are perfectly correct alternatives.

  • And what about W! It is just double u really. Had to be added to the alphabet in France - eg Guilliame is their version of William.

  • Regarding the "Zed/Zee" thing, I have a few British friends who told me they would watch American shows like "Sesame Street" as kids and be horribly confused on what was the correct pronunciation of "Z" in the UK!
