"Contrary to what those in power would like you to believe, so that you'll give up your pension, cut your wages, and settle for the life your great-grandparents had, America is not broke. Not by a long shot," said Michael Moore at Saturday's labor rally in Madison opposing Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker's attempt to end the collective bargaining rights for the majority of public sector workers. "The country is awash in wealth and cash. It's just that it's not in your hands. It has been transferred, in the greatest heist in history, from the workers and consumers to the banks and the portfolios of the uber-rich." Democracy Now! broadcasts a portion of his speech, which was recorded by Sam Mayfield and posted to TheUptake.org.

In 2005 the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) calculated that the top 1 percent paid 27.6 percent of all federal taxes. The top 10 percent paid 54.7 percent. Go to CBO DOT ORG. The IRS shows the top 1 percent paid 38.02 percent of income taxes for the same tear, I mean year. Preliminary results for 2010: Top 1 Percent should have been paid 32.9 percent of individual income tax. Politifact rated Moore's statement of the top 400 as true.

See ya at the polling place in 2012, pal. Vote early, vote often--it's the way of the Left.

@hookalakah That's like saying Golf fans should be furious with Tiger Woods if he's caught playing baseball because it would be hypocritical since Golf has made him wealthy. Stupid arguement. Very GOP of you. And yes, it would be counter productive for Unions to attack such a powerful advocate for working people. Do you really fail to comprehend the difference between making a rightful choice to use non-Union Labor and using tax-free Corporate $ to strip workers legal rights? Wow. C'mon 2012...

Moore DID deny the unions their "rights" or, more accurately, the money they would have gotten had he used them on his production. THAT'S what it has to do with the unions, Metalhead. Unions aren't up in arms over Moore's penny-pinching because he's a public spokesman for their agenda--so they give him a pass on his business practices. It's part of the inherent contradiactions and hypocracies of the Left.

@hookalakah What does this have to do with the unions? You think Moore would have denied them union rights? The business agreement you enter in before is caveat emptor. Its when they depend and pay ppl already under a union and fuck them over. Unions arent in arms because they have common sense and at least sometimes dont try to lie and fool ppl with logical fallacies like Zand there would.
