Great video with much needed message. I volunteered with a cat rescue group. Til then I had no idea of the overwhelming number of pets needing homes. We had 15 volunteers & averaged 600 calls a month w/people usually saying "come get this cat", like we had all the staff & resources in the world plus a taxi service! It is your RESPONSIBILITY to spay or neuter. I do not believe there are no low cost spay/neuter programs in NY. Check with vets, Humane Society, SPCA, Alley Cat allies, rescue groups.

they're cats. they dont care. they aren't gonna mourn the loss of the children they will never have because they can't think that far ahead. likewise, boy cats don't feel any less "manly" without their testicles because they lack such mental concepts. people should stop projecting their own issues onto their pets.

I have a male and a female cat, both from a shelter and of course, they've both been neutered. Sometimes I think that it's a shame they'll never have kittens, but then I think of the dozens and dozens of unwanted kittens in the shelter when I got them and I'm happy that their kids will not be among them. Besides, the shelter lets me and my cats foster motherless kittens, so as long as other people are acting stupid and irresponsible, I'll have a steady supply of tiny, cute and fluffy.

my mom took our dog to be castrated and he was never the same after. even she considered having him put down a few months after the surgery. he was absolutely miserable, i had no idea a dog could have such deep depression. it has improved a little, but he's never been the same dog. he's very lifeless, his eyes are dull, and even though I was out of the country when it happened i still feel guilty for not being able to stop it from happening.

Cats are not humans. We can't impose our own ontological presuppositions onto the animals, because we would feel stepped on if someone neutered or spayed us.

Spaying female animals can prevent anomalies in the ovaries, that could become lethal and neutering males can help to prevent them from entering as many fights for territories and females, thereby preventing damages to them. As an example, my sister (who is a vet) spayed her rabbit for the sake of the rabbit's health.
