  • @SuperKy15 and finally, the sanctuary is well known because they will take in any elephant that needs a home. There are elephants at the sanctuary that are there because other facilities couldnt handle them, either because they didnt have the room or because of an aggressive pesonality that people couldnt handle. So some of the elephants could be considered dangerous, yet they have a home in the sanctuary where they can live in peace

  • Reply to the last comments. You obviously have not been to the sanctuary. I have been there and you don't know what you are talking about. There is only well cared, loved, trainned, educational professionals at this Sanctuary. And it sounds like people don't know all what the ringling brothers have done for the elephants. It's too bad there are unsubstaniated comments like this. It was one of the best weekend experiences I have ever had. All I want to do is find funds for the elephants.

  • The also breed elephants from what I hear. Almost thought about visiting until I did more reading. Before supporting a "sanctuary" everyone should do a little research and make sure they're not being used for breeding. A word to really watch out for is "conservation" because this is often code for breeding.

  • Unfortunately, this "sanctuary" uses bull-hooks on their elephants (it is what this man is holding in his hand - he's covering the hook part that is used to penetrate their skin and to remind them who is boss). They use bullhooks to dominate them - how do you think he gets them to perform those "tricks?" Real elephant sanctuaries like the ones in Tennessee and California would never use bull-hooks and never use any dominance over their elephants. The welfare of elephants alone is paramount.

  • This reminds me of ringling brothers. I'll stick with Tennessee
