The government has defended the evictions saying they are part of a larger programme to save the countrys largest water tower. Forestry Minister D. Noah Wekesa who was speaking in Machakos, he urged politicians to keep politics out of the Mau conservation initiative.

  • what makes them so special if the land there is illegal they have to go. the humanitarian crisis is on them

  • Agreed. The likes of Gedion Moi and other big fishes must surrender the land they currently own.

  • These people have no problem moving out and settling elsewhere...it's the Big Fish hiding under these poor women skirts that r the Gov't Problem!

  • As much as the eviction is a government exercise made to reclaim the forest, it should be done in a very human way as much as possible. Every other kenyan knows there is an element of revenge on the part of Mwai Kibaki and Raila Odinga. This kind of revenge exercise to frighten the local people and the militia should not be encouraged to go on in such manner! Enough with Mwai & Raila Odinga!
