I completely recommend any form of animal therapy! I ride at a ranch that takes in kids in foster care that have emotional problems. Some of them are rape victims and many of them are on anti-depressant medication. I have watched their attitudes change before my own eyes. The horses teach them responsibility, trust, and give them someone to talk to. After 3 months of riding, one of the newest girls is completely off all medications.
I can imagine how dolphin therapy can be life-changing too!!(:

this is not scientific, however I feel somehow dolphins also have some philosophical kind of intellect.
maybe the brain of an autistic human and dolphins are similarly wired and they can connect to these kids who normal humans are not able to do.
anyway nice video.

I have autism and I have never swam with dolphins. How I view this is that the people with autism feel comfortable around the dolphins and see them as friends and since they are not humans, they can get along with them much better therefore it makes them happier. I personally would love to swim with a dolphin, it really would change your life.

I find this fascinating. I also am disturbed that people disregard this treatment as useless. There are no 'cure all' treatments, I see this as a wonderful thing to be used in combination with other treatments.

have you heard of stewart swedlow? he can explain more about the connection of autistic children & dolhpins. autistic children/people are a product of a dolphin & human genes, hence the connection b/w the 2 mammals when they meet (excuse the word but we are mammals). i hope you research more about htis guy & the phenomenon. i do not want to call this a therapy but in human terms it is. for me it's more of "finding your nitch on earth" & these kids have found it w/o being prejudice. thank you.

This is absurd. Take your child out of the water and take him to REAL therapy. This does not work. It is a waste of your time and money. Science has come a long way. Trust it.
Folks,
It was our son. We saw changes. There is research, I suggest you look and find it. I am not saying this is a cure all, but it did calm him down and he was much - much happier. Science has come a long way, and if you wish not to believe this that is your problem. I know it has helped our son. I am not selling a service or anything. If you do not believe surf on. But you simply disregarding this type of therapy is wrong and simply put very narrow minded of you.
