how much did this box turtle cost? And, this may sound stupid but why do i see some with orange heads and some with grey mouths and black heads and sometimes with grey heads and black spots? are they different breeds or something?

I did not buy this turtle. She was brought to us by someone who hit her with a lawnmower by accident. She lost a few toes/toenails on her front right leg as a result of it. We nursed her back to health and that was almost 24 years ago.
Yes, there are different sub species of Box Turtle (Terrapene carolina). This one is Terrapene carolina carolina. They come in various colors, some dark, some bright, some with more yellow, orange, black, etc....
