Pirelli PZERO 1400 RIB Boat

The sail of time

They were a mirror that reflected the lifestyle of the 1950s, with its cocktails, beach bars and stars such as Brigitte Bardot and Grace Kelly. Back then, racy boats were cruising at high speed along the coasts of the French Côte d'Azur or the Spanish Costa del Sol, and the RIB boat, a special construction of a rigid inflatable boat, was among them; these boats were light and flexible and very fast. The PZERO 1400 is a further development of the boats by manufacturer Pirelli from the 1950s, translating their almost mystical image into our times. The idea was to create a top-of-the-line boat for the Mediterranean waters -- a boat with a high degree of understatement that could continue the legend of the RIB boat. Interestingly, this new boat was commissionated by Tecnorib (worldwide licencee of the brand Pirelli PZERO for RIBs) to be designed by the Mannerfelt Design Team, which brought its experience in constructing racing boats as well as from the car design industry to the project. The result is a boat with a very elegant and lifestyle-oriented language of form. The boat's cockpit is inspired by automotive design and with its protruding form particularly defines the streamlined and speed-oriented appearance of the PZERO 1400. This impression is further enhanced by a pop-up navigation screen located directly in front of the driver. Just as in a car, it gives the pilot a good overview, while sliding hatches on each side of the cockpit are an expression of comfort paired with understatement. The operation and handling of the PZERO 1400 is very similar to that of racing boats, making it fast and easy to handle even in very rough weather conditions -- the design appeals to the senses and manages to transform the repute of the RIB boat into the lifestyle approach of our time.
