  • Hey Blinkazoid, Praxxus55712 sent me your way to ask this okra question. Praxxus has a method of burying his tomato seedlings deep to create a better root system. He buries the seedling with more an more soil as they grow, so that the stem puts out more roots. Can you tell me if this method would work on okra as well? I've just started a batch of seedlings, and this is my first time growing okra. Thanks!

  • @RomeFell Hi RomeFell. Nope that doesn't work with okra. Actually I'm not sure if it works with anything other than tomatoes and potatoes.

  • blink u said u keep the seed (okra)in the frezer the nigth before u plant them & soak it in warm water in the morning does this apply to all the seeds u are abuat to plant the next morning?

  • It only applies to okra seed. Okra seed has a very hard shell and it doing it this way helps split the outer covering of it so it can germinate easier.

  • what is the distance between its seeds ? do you mesure ? thanks take care but love to see u farming eggplants ? & do you sell ur okra ?

  • Yes, I do measure. I plant a group of 3 or 4 seeds and the groups are a foot apart. After it comes up and is several inches tall I thin it out to just one plant per foot. Some people go as much as a foot and a half apart. The night before I plant I like to put the seeds into the freezer and then just before planting I take them out of the freezer and put them in luke warm water. This causes the outer husk of the seed to split slightly which helps with germination.

  • I love okra. You till much faster than I can push a mower. ;)

  • @Blinkazoid adding a little bleach to the soaking water will germinate the seeds overnight.

  • Hasn't been moving along quite like this for me. "/
