Bowie what a musical genius, thank you so much for my musical education, I love melodic music married with lyrical prose

I agree, a true work of art. David Bowie's main contribution to the best period of pop music charts, 1979-1982, the synthesizer New Wave era, which was destroyed 1983 by
1) The invention of the digital synthesizer. Makes poor copies of the same old boring music instruments. Not an instrument of its own, not like the analogue synthesizer, the mysthical creator of the deep sounds of the Universe...
2) The power shift from UK/Europe to USA in the pop charts. This meant R&B and Rock took over.

David at the very top of his art - when those texture guitars by Chuck Hammer come in, you really get the feeling of depth......sinking and floating within the same moment.

Bowie had many wonderful moments of sound and vision. But Ashes keeps drawing us back as the one video that meshed perfectly with the song. This WAS Bowie's masterpiece, mortal man yearning for a better dimension, and the long suffering endured for short glimpses of that higher realm. This was his crowning achievement of cosmic pursuits. Later music and video were of lesser importance, past his peak enlightenment. But here, for one moment, he duly provided us with his iconic likeness, Major Tom.

@kayleee2010 I'm a fetus and I love this song!
