Can India Chart a New Course in the Fight Against Climate Change?
India, along with a few other developing countries has repeatedly been singled out as the 'spoiler' in various international negotiations aimed at negating or reversing the pernicious effects of climate change. India's contention has been that there needs to be a way to balance the compulsions of economic growth along with environmental sustainability. 42% of the Indian population is currently below the poverty line. What new ideas can a developing country like India bring to the global negotiating table on climate change?
