  • Don't towel dry your face. Towels store bacteria and the whole point of aftershave is to reduce razor burn and bumps which are caused by bacteria infecting the micro cuts you cause to your skin from shaving. Don't use the creams without alcohol - the whole point is to disinfect your skin with the alcohol. Apply a moisturizer afterward. Or, use an alum block for the disinfecting. Get an aftershave with witch hazel and alcohol for the best ability to disinfect and for the astringent to stop burn.
