  • @tw19771 Sorry Paul is one of the best thrash metal drummers of all time. Dave's stuff is simple, only skank beats at 240 bpm; Paul's grooves are more versatile and technical. Paul changed Slayer, even King and Hanneman wrote a more creative and interesting stuff on his drumming. I respect Lombardo because he is one of my biggest influences and he is the godfather of extreme metal drums but Bostaph owns him.

  • @Krow83 Paul isn't Dave Lombardo, he's a great drummer, but he doesn't have much in the way of actually creating interesting licks. I mean Paul can pretty much drum pretty much any Thrash song and nail it. The reason why Lombardo is as famous as he is, is because he is creative with his fills. Take Into the pit here for instance Both Tempesta and John Dette actually did interesting stuff while playing this song. Paul just played through it. Paul's hurrah was Divine Intervention his best stuff.

  • Someone knows what snare he's using int he video ? Looks like a shallow DW snare

  • Stop bitching about who is the better drummer... they are just different and they both deserve the same amount of respect

  • @tw19771 Wrong, listen to Divine Intervention and tell me Paul doesn't wipe out Dave. LIsten to Gemini (the song) And even Diabolus in Musica, Paul Rules

  • @ter50 Bostaph is just technical. He doesn't have anywhere near as much groove as Lombardo. Just listen to songs from the first five albums, played live by both drummers. Dave actually changes, Paul just plays through like a machine.

  • @ter50 the bass runs? those have been in that song a looong time dude, Dette did the ones Pauls playing in the chorus as far back as 95, before Tempesta tracked those for first strike the double bass fill after the guitar solo was flavor added by Tempesta, and neither Tempesta or Paul plays Dettes crash accents on the breakdown after....where is Pauls stuff in this song again? Paul hated tracking Divine intervention btw. I'll leave it to you to fig out why

  • @tw19771 I'm not trolling anyone.I'm only disapponting with you about Paul's creativity.Divine Intervention has the best Slayer drumming,God Hates Us All too.Paul didn't invent anything, but IMHO helped Slayer to create a new interesting sound, although with Lombardo they returned to their roots. However this version is different from Clemente's,there aren't those double bass notes in the original version. Dette's version is similar to the New Order style, I mean Live at the Fillmore.

  • @ter50 I've been listening to Paul since his days in Forbidden, and as I said last time, he's one of those guys, that can nail any song and play it clean and perfectly. But he doesn't create interesting stuff, he can play it, when you give it to him, but he doesn't create, case in point. ^ Thats a perfect rendition of Into The Pit, New Order style. Now listen to Tempesta play it live, and you'll see what I mean. And they wrote better with Bostaph?? dude...you gotta be fucking trolling me.

  • @StonewallSiren Shure man..but also divine intervention is fuckin hard to play on drums...

    BOTH GODLY DRUMMERS...

    Both Kick ass ^^

  • Bostaph left Testament some days ago...

    ...PAUL, COME BACK!!!!
