Soldiers from 16 Signal Regiment have received campaign medals at Elmpt in Germany after a six and a half month tour of Afghanistan. Most of the 305 troops kept British military communications running across Helmand province and - in a first for the Royal Signals - a smaller contingent helped secure the streets of the Afghan capital Kabul. Sgt Stu McCrone was one of those soldiers and had a narrow escape when a sniper's bullet missed him but shattered his goggles.
My old man was in 16 Sig, then his last posting was 3DSR. Upmost respects
