Rice University "swarm" robotics pioneer James McLurkin has created a new multi-robot systems platform that is sophisticated enough for cutting-edge research and inexpensive enough for K12 classrooms. McLurkin plans to make the "R-one" robots available in kit form next year. Students can program each R-one individually or use them collectively in multi-robot swarms.

@EngineerAtheist , price estimate is around $250 -$300 , it might be possible to go cheaper by removing sensors. This is just an estimate and might change ....
