  • Check out what he means by vit D levels.

in all of his patients. just d 25 was tested.

Check your own 2 vit D levels.

    Ask a dr to do both d 25 and d 1,25.

    don't listen to his baloney.

  • ...biochemistry or details explanations on how other tests decisions are made.

I ask you not to insult me nor the people watching these videos by using such language. How would you feel if some did not seek my help because of your comment? Your comment helps no one. It should have been in a form of a question so that others my learn from the answer.

  • Very helpful video, Dr Hurst.

I have a history of low vitamin D, my latest test showed 16.3 nmol/L a few weeks ago. Normally my doctor prescribe me with an injection of Vitamin D every six months, however, due to problems in the Surgery, I only had 3 of these in the last 8 years (they never seem to keep the vitamin d in stock).

Do you think my Vitamin D levels are dangerous? Is it too late for me to act now? I am 45.

  • please turn your thinking around and check both levels. I swear on a ton of baloney.

your d levels ratio is what is important

  • We do check 1, 25 OH when clinically necessary.

The 25/1,25 ratio is only an opinion of Dr. Marshal. If the body did not regulate it's 1,25 levels so tightly, it would be a part of my routine tests. It would make since to test 1,25 off the bat if the parathyroid gland was involved, mineral loss, or if there is sluggish kidney function.

If you have any literature on the ratio, please pass it on.

  • Yes, those levels are dangerous. No, it is not too late.

A recent study at the Albert Ernestine school of Medicine showed an increase of death from ALL causes in those with low Vitamin D levels (30 ng/ml (25 OH) or less; your converted is 6.5 ng/ml).

You need a more detailed workup. I reserve Tuesday's and Thursday's for phone consultations. My website information is to the right of my youtube videos.

Remember to share this video if it has helped you.

  • I havent had any sun for a long time,i sleep all day and stay up all night

  • Thanks, very informative. This is my problem, I kept having blood tests, as I was really ill, very tired and unable to concentrate, etc. My Dr tested me for everything and finally I was tested for vitamin d and calcium, and the results showed that both were very low. I have been taking suplements since, and I feel better. I am currently using sunbed for 5min twice a week. Do you think it helps?

    Thanks

  • This is RIGHT ON, Doc. I have my D levels checked at my last physical and not surprised: VERY LOW. My internist put me on 1,000 IU. I'm 50 and have severe lumbar scoliosis and arthritis. Before I started on vit. D, I was suffering from significant depression, stiffined joints and extreme generalized pain. I've made a COMPLETE turnaround since I started taking the D. I'm not longer depressed and I've started dancing again! This is the MIRACLE HORMONE!!!

  • @calberkeley01 I take 50,000 units a week too!!!

  • Is low vitamin D levels associated with female PCOS hair loss.

  • unfortunately, my docs dont know much about vit d or how to properly raise it for those who are deficient in it,. can someone please tell me the proper way to do so? i do read that many take 50,000 iu of D3 and i told my doc this and he said that was crazy and its over dosing and you would get ill and sick from those kind of super mega dose levels

  • @calamazue1989 i wish you the best becuase i know how much pain you are in.

  • @calberkeley01 Yeah my hair falls out , my teeth crumble , I'm tired and in pain all the time , my joints hurt and swell my bones ache . I've been trying to raise it for 2 yrs with 50,000 iu but nothing seems to help .

  • @calamazue1989 mine was 10 and i felt horrible. do you have symptoms?

  • my vitamin d level was 10 for quite a while becuase ive felt so terrible for almost 2 years. i had tmj, joint pain, fatigue, migraines..i would be in bed for a week at a time..and im only 30. The day i started on 50,000iu of vitamin d every symptom ive had for the past 2 years cleared up. im thankful i finally got diognoised.
