Canon ZR85 Camcorder - What Happened?

MY ZOOM TURNED INTO FOCUS? RAW FOOTAGE.
This is the last video I ever got to record on my Canon ZR-85 Camcorder. I loved this camcorder. Its been broke for years, and its still right next to me on one of my shelves.

I was always confused to why it crapped out, and being able to see this footage of it breaking in action is an interesting watch. Now I guess I don't know much, but did the mirror burn an image into the lens? Did the camera not know what it was looking at? WTF? My zoom turns in to focus? The houses that you see on the right side at 0:27 would be the houses in the REAR VIEW MIRROR. The Beige fence is what was in FRONT of me..

This was probably in about 2007.

You can see me zoom all the way in after I comment on the focus being out, was I going to manually adjust the focus? I have no idea. Go ahead and watch. Ever since I stopped recording and turned it off It has never worked since then. It just greets me to a "CANON" logo and never goes into camera mode...

If you have any ideas what could have happened feel free to leave a comment! Id love to learn a little more.

At the moment I am using a Sony HandyCam HDR-XR200 HD. I still miss my Canon. Would love to get another just so I could use good old tapes again!
