What Fitnessmanswer men struggle with anything? I wish that were so. This week's video has us answering the question on what we are currently struggling with in our life and how are we overcoming it. As Booker T. Washington says:
Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life... as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed.
My personal struggles are oft-noted in injuries leading up to big events, like my first marathon, or last year's marathon where my wife got lost between water stops and couldn't provide me my drink. leading to dehydration. Succeeding in Life is all about recognizing past and possible future difficulties, and planning for solutions to avert them.
Sometimes it just has to be about the run or getting out without the distraction. I know my workout yesterday was completely different than my typical zoned out on the elliptical trainer. It exercised my brain and willpower to keep going as much as my legs and arms.

That is definitely a good reason to go out. :-) Losing the iPod has definitely been a blessing in disguise as it showed me how much I depended on that little thing. I think I might have to buy 2 for redundancy. :)

I had a 4liter per Diet dew habit. Here are my suggestions:
* purchase a different brand soda - like a store brand or Coke/Pepsi alternative - for similar taste, but not quite the same
* purchase carbonated flavored water instead - you are getting a taste and the fizz
* buy headache tablets to deal with the caffeine withdrawal
* Pay yourself for each day without soda or set a end of week reward. Note: reward can't be soda. :-)
Just some thoughts...

Thank you Lorraine. BTW congrats on your 1.8 pound lost last week - I haven't had to chance to post it yet. That is fantastic news!

That was actually the only way I could start running at first. Downloaded a bunch of cadences and put them on the mp3 player - even the whole "clap on the left foot" thing. At some point whatever gets you out the door is a good thing. Unfortunately if it keeps you inside when it gets lost or stolen, then it is probably too much.
Truth be told, I am more likely to be listening to an audiobook or a podcast than music while running, and I guess the same can be said only running with a group.
