Seth MacFarlane (creator of the animated series Family Guy & American Dad!) is among the speakers at the Writers Guild of America strike rally below Fox Plaza on Avenue of the Stars in Century City, California - Nov. 9, 2007.

Although this video has additional material & vantage points, THERE IS A MUCH BETTER VIDEO OF SETH'S SPEECH AT:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGqRN1...

Daily Variety reported that 4000 strikers attended (the number reported by Los Angeles Police Department was 5000).

This slightly edited video was shot from the middle of the crowd using a pocket digital camera with no zoom (sorry). The cut at 5:49 is where a few seconds are missing due to a battery change (sorry again).

It is the other way around. Think about it, who would be telling the truth...the artists or the mega-corporations? The studios, not the writers, walked away from negotiations. Please re-read my comment at the start of this exchange and visit unitedhollywood DOT com for the latest details.

Actually, I'm not sure. At first, I thought it was the writers because of the situation, but what if it was the other way around?

Katana991, when you write "they're," are you referring to the writers or the studios?

The WGA is NOT trying to "extort money." They ask for residuals from "new media," i.e. studio webcasts (which the studios now exempt as "promotional") just as writers receive from old media, i.e. TV. Think of it as a very small slice of the pie we all baked rather than the writers getting nothing. Writers will ONLY profit if the (hitherto miserly) producers profit. "Waivers" are due to production companies such as Worldwide Pants agreeing to WGA terms & are not granted to "special interests."
