@dered908 Ding ding ding. Even comparing the Sherman to the Panther is unfair, as the Panther is is roughly 10 tons heavier and paid a steep price in mobility to meet its target for protection and firepower. I mean, to be fair, telling a Sherman crew that their tank is easier to maintain and thus better than a Tiger is not going to be very comforting. The thing is, it's just flat out untrue to act like the Germans used their +10 engineering skill to build better tanks.

@TalonMercenary A furnace that rarely suffered catastrophic ammunition cook off, in contrast to the T-34 in which this was a common occurrence.
-
Basically.....it's a furnace. Literally

@9Zito4 Not to mention, that Panther was just a push over for the Sherman Firefly, which is just a modified version of the Sherman. Also, the Tiger needed to be pulled back to base for repairs, the Sherman could be repaired by anyone who knew how to use a tractor or repair one.

@9Zito4 Are you fucking daft? The Sherman was not a shit tank. It was a regular medium tank. The Tiger was a HEAVY tank, you idiot. The Sherman was also vastly superior to the Tiger as a tank, it was easy to maintain, it was fast, it had fair armament and as a medium tank, which the Americans did not see as fit for tank to tank combat(The american medium tank philosophy had them as infantry support vehicles) it was extremely capable. You're comparing a Medium to a Heavy, derp derp derp

@lorinczm Actually the only Tigers isaw were aburnt out hulks or abandoned. I promptly took a shit and piss on them

@9Zito4 The Sherman was never sent against the Tiger. Meetings were happinstance f the most part.no country could have built a better compromise. Could the Germans have built 50,000+ panthers and sent them over open ocean some 8-20,000km or more.? No And Yes the counter part to the Panther the Pershing was better, the T-29 had more poerful gun than tiger a&b etc, but ransport restraint limited their use.

@SgtKingK I respect all tankers from WWII, but sending the shermans against Tigers and Panthers was madness... I just think that the U.S. was capable of creating much better tanks, but they didn't...

Brings back old memories Wish these snotty dumb kids would stfu

@frio109 But the Sherman was often destroyed with one hit from the Tiger or Panther, and it couldn't penetrate either of them.... It's ok to use it as a reconesance vehicle, but it wasn't,it was used mainly to battle head to head with the German tanks, and it always lost those battles... So I don't think it was a success...

MAY BE but not like a T-34. The Soviet tank is better, so many battles proof it!
