  • 3 this is not the work of a "famous" artist, nor an artist who makes a livable wage off his art, so there must be something in it for him beyond small monetary gains doing something that youtubers think they could easily perform themselves (perhaps confusing "performance" with "talent show")

    4. feel free to not watch the video.

  • few points to make

    1. noise music isn't new. it's been around since at least the first decade of the 20th century

    2. all vanguard art has always existed at the absolute fringes of popular expression, leading to the valid but utterly subjective question "but is it art"?

  • i can understand how the histrionics could throw people off, but prurient's shows are really like a full body experience. he uses the whole of his physical and emotional self to corrugate the sounds into a dense monolith of noise (even if the premanipulated source emenates just from the mouth). he seems to manifest this by a kind of staged anger, like the two minutes hate in orwell. his exit is no joke though. dom's a nice guy in real life, but his post-performance self is unpleasant

  • (previous comment ct'd) and scathed by the emotional wellspring unearthed in the preceding minutes (he often hits or shoves people on the way out). thereby the performance itself is not just a musical act, but a kafkaesque transformation of character, more in line with a kind of Aktionist performance art than "rock star poseur shit". You may not be interested in this aspect of performance. It's definitely not everybody's cup of tea. It is, I must say though, far more fascinating in person.

  • Analog for this raw beauty beneath musical lives.

  • @ihatemyjobman to quote Dilbert, "art is the transmission of one's inner most essence to another". art is made up of a tapestry of many different views. I never understood how people can call certain expressions of art "wrong".

  • Fucking brilliant!!!

  • I like the part where there's feedback.

  • riveting. scathing. dangerous. I want to experience a performance from him.

  • makes me wanna get up and dance!

  • what a sorry fucking excuse for art

  • thx for vid and your comment , agrre totally . . .
