Bald Eagle pair or bald eagle and turkey vulture on Spriggs and Minnieville Miniville Roads in Woodbrige Manassas Dumfries Dale City Lake Terrapin Virginia taken Friday March 26, 2010 afternoon by Kimberly Fradette-Taylor. I happened to see this beautiful animal on side of road, stopped and took out camcorder. Only stayed for a couple of minutes due to traffic and safety. This is only second time in my entire 40 years ever seeing this eagle in the wild. I grew up thinking that they only lived in captivity - zoos. But there were at one time only 500 living in wild. As of 2007 there were 5,000 in the US's lower states. Tons more of them live in Alaska. Less than a mile from my house I shot this footage this afternoon. The first time I ever saw a bald eagle in the wild was in Minnesota in the mid 1990s while traveling for FEMA during a major disaster. A couple flew over the top of my car as I traveled through the wilderness. It was only a couple seconds, but unmistakably the bald eagle. During this siting I was even more excited because I thought they only survived in zoos. What makes today's siting even more rare - American bald eagles are fish eaters and don't normally eat animals as big as they are. This dead animal is the size of a medium dog or giant hare. More info on bald eagles - http://www.defenders.org/wildlife_and_habitat/wildlife/bald_eagle.php# I called Prince William Forest Park - this intersection is across the border to the park, and Ranger Stephanie P. said that no one there knew that they had bald eagles so she is going to discuss with management Sunday. :)

  • wck304 - cool! I haven't seen it fly overhead yet but I did leave a note at the house on Minniville with all of those bald eagles all over it. I thought they might be interested in this video but I didn't hear back from them. I called the PWC Forest Park and told them about the eagle and they said they were unaware of a local bald eagle and seemed excited by it too.

  • We see them all the time over here in Stonewall Manor in Triangle. There are two of them. They always fly as a pair. Might be the same Bald Eagle as the one in this video.

  • I saw one a few days ago perched on top of a tree near Hastings and Grant Ave in Manassas. I posted a video of him to my page you might enjoy. I didn't get videos of the others, but there appeared to be 3-4 young that were with the adult. very cool. First Eagle I have seen in my life at 31 years of age.

  • The eagle was letting the turkey vulture close so that he could eat him, too!

  • Cool

  • We live close to hear and see this eagle flying over our home regularly. Although I've never seen him land.

  • suprising the eagle let the other bird get so close while still feeding...
