Retired President Daniel Moi, burst into a rare defence of his 24-year reign on Friday, defending the detention laws, and exonerating himself from any blame for the failure of efforts to write a new constitution, during his era. The former president spoke in Eldoret, where he campaigned against the proposed constitution. Pamela Asigi has the details.

I think it is naive for kenyans to continue listening to Moi even after he has retired. He has nothing to offer and he is a celebrity of yester years. Kenya is better of without him and truth be told the world has moved millions of miles away from the time he left office. What is it he can do for Kenya today that he did not do for the 24 years he was in office? He needs to be silenced by investigations in some of the atrocities committed against the people of Kenya while we was in charge.
