the dad looks like a boy with the essense of sheepishly wondering if he will be approved of by the woman who purses her hips in disdain but agreement. You may a very good point and I agree. Notice how SHE has to invite him. Children in single mother households will grow up to account for 70% of the crime in this country. Then you get folks saying "I turned out ok" except, we didnt. Most of the time we're going to be divorced, and the women are going to be single mothers themselves, ALL THE WHILE thinking they are ok.
