The Philippine nuclear program started in 1958 with the creation of the Philippine Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) under Republic Act 2067.[1]

Under a regime of martial law, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos in July 1973 announced the decision to build a nuclear power plant.[1] This was in response to the 1973 oil crisis, as the Middle East oil embargo had put a heavy strain on the Philippine economy, and Marcos believed nuclear power to be the solution to meeting the country's energy demands and decreasing dependence on imported oil.

i`m fine with marcos regime no matter what....But compare to other administration that took over the country..it`s so fucking terrible and greedy, a really serious corrupt form of gov`t gov`t....No respect at all..especially to ordinary citizens..Full freedom for filipinos is really premature..the law should be a little bit of communism so that people will fear of doing unlawful things..You can self study the statistics in terms of crime rate, discipline, corruption and economy before and today

Remember ONDOY... Marcos' plan was to have a paranaque spillway for Laguna Lake, did not happen cos aquino did not push through, almost 20 years here came ONDOY. Makes you wonder if there was a paranaque spillway would ondoy have happened???
