This is a quick vid I put together. It features the audio track, "I See No One", a demo played on a radio show, along with different samplets of the same demo, which is actually titled "The First Days Of September".

  • are the lyrics gibberish?

  • I have a feeling they are...either that, or Jeff didn't feel like articulating. Either way, this is a champion demo. I think it is fabulous, gibberish or not. =]

"I see no one there....and uh.. by rain...OHHH remember, like the first days of September, you will be runnin, on a funner day...oh the waiter, like band that played on dearly, oh that will leave it time..."

    Yep. It's gibberish. Lol.

  • Is there a finished version of this song? I must hear it in full. Sounds like a really awesome song. I am really into the rare stuff and this is really rare. I must know where I can get the whole song in good sound quality. Jeff Lynne if you ever get on youtube and see this, your fans want this song! I think he should take all hes "demos"/ unfinished work and put out an album of finished tracks. I would but that. Jeff Lynne is a musical genus.

  • No full version is out at the moment. If I get anything, I will let you know.

    =]

  • Wow, where did you get this (and Indian Queen)? Especially the studio version!

  • Sadly, the studio version has only come in those samplets. Once I recieve the full version, I will be posting it up as well.

As for Indian Queen, it came from a radio show, and it has been passed around for a long time.

  • they didn't release it because they couldn't sing any of the words properly. They were all "walaaooohaguaah."

  • some of the chords sound like LET IT RUN from the Discovery album.....LOVE JEFF/ELO <3

  • The acoustic guitar part is definitely Can't Get It Out Of My Head.

I watched the Heroes of Comedy programme on Kenny Everett recently and it was said that his engineers found him introverted and quiet behind the scenes, but when he was on radio or in front of a camera he'd be outgoing. Sort of like Roy Wood in that way.

  • I think this song has more going for it than a lot of stuff that made it onto albums

  • Wow, where do you have those old tracks from? Thanks for sharing!

  • Many thanks for posting the ELO goodies!

  • I think Jeff was just working on getting the rhythm and melody down, not intending to add lyrics at this point, and maybe that's why he's singing gibberish.

  • The song on this demo eventually evolved into the more familiar Boy Blue from Eldorado, A Symphony LP. Kenny Everett had access to a number of demos from that LP.

  • I think it's genuine..sounds like it's maybe from the Eldorado sessions. Polished up it would have been really great!

  • If this ain't the real Jeff L. & company, then I'll believe that Paul McCartney was replaced by a double in 1966 as well. Anyone capable of aping ELO this perfectly should be awarded the copyright to the name (ELO 3?) - 1b2s
