A lovely surprise on a sunny lunchtime in January (not too cold). This winter garden visitor is usually only seen when there's snow and it's very cold. It first appeared in December 2010.
The male Brambling is in the foreground with male Chaffinches on the feeder behind. Chaffinches are an all year visitor to my garden. During winter the Bramblings can join flocks of mixed finches feeding in gardens. Goldfinches and Greenfinches also visit my garden.

Congratulations on getting the Brambling to visit your garden. I'd love to have one visit mine but they rarely make it this far south.
