Abhik playing jazz at the Lancaster Music Club's 23rd Annual Americal Music Festival in Lancaster, Ohio. Recorded live on Feb 6, 2011. This concert was organized to celebrate some of the great American composers, including some original compositions that were played by the composers themselves. This video has two pieces:
(1) Strange Meadowlark (Composer: Dave Brubeck)
(2) Take the A-train (Composer: Billy Strayhorn)
Abhik is accompanied on the second piece by his jazz teacher, Mark Flugge (www.markflugge.com), who is playing the bassline--the part that a bass guitarist would normally play. Both pieces are arranged by Abhik, and all of the improvisations are either his own or learnt by ear from the original recordings.
Just great!!! There´s not only "right tones" - there´s even expression in the playing;-)
thank you very much.
