@darchylde612 Further More. Berry had the same aspirations and dreams for Mary Wells which he ended up putting on Diana Ross who Listened and Work with him instead of against him. If it wasent for Berry Gordy no one would have heard of Mary Wells, the Supremes, the tempts, the marvelettes, stevie wonder, jackson five, marvin gay, nor the Mircales. It was Berry Gordy that introduced these Unknown folks to the World. so give Berry some credit and Quite Whinning about how he ripped thme off.
@darchylde612 You are really very mis informed and really should do your research. If you had Done your research you would Know that Mary through bad advice(husband) Left Motown at the HEIGHT of her career. Berry was very proud of Mary when she hit with My Guy it was cross over hit(hit goal for motown) The Beatles asked her to open for them. Mary was on to great things but chose to LEAVE for More Money and movies at 20th Cent.Fox. They are the ones who killed her career not Motown or Berry.
berry gordy has to answer to the Lord for why he was instrumental in destroying mary wells' career all because she had the audacity to leave motown because he was robbing her and his other artists of their royalties. this song is proof positive that mary wells should have been a bigger artist, remembered for a more impressive body of work, "my guy" and her other motown masterworks notwithstanding.
I don't care how popular this song was, it still makes me so happy to hear this romantic song! Thank you -for what you left behind - dear, dear Mary. Your music.
wow this song is so melodic and her lyrics just make me melt. Mary Wells was a very special woman. She was feeling this and the song should have been #1 on the r&b and pop charts.

Love her voice! This should've been a hit, but Motown wouldn't let her market herself as she could've. I know this is with 20th Fox Century...
