Ch. 31 part 4

Nick's POV
I could feel Hannah's eyes on me the entire time she was awake. I tried to act as if I were asleep as I let my arm casually make its way up to her waist. All I wanted was to have her close. All the time. I had to stop myself from pulling her close and kiss her perfect pink lips. But it would be wrong. She was dating someone else... Even though I wasn't sure, and I don't even think Hannah knew for sure, what kind of relationship they had. I wasn't the type of guy who just went and kissed another guys girlfriend. Even if every live part of me wanted to. My fingers actually itched to make their way up her neck to stroke her hair. Maybe if I pretended to be asleep for a little while longer, she'd fall asleep and I could just lay awake and look at her?
I held my breath as I felt her move closer but I couldn't help my body from moving too, until our bodies were fitted perfectly together like a puzzle. Her face was buried in my neck and I had to bite the inside of my chin not to get goose bumps as her warm breath hit my skin. It felt so good, so right. I relaxed my body after pulling her as close as I possibly could. Faking being asleep had some positive effects. I could always deny holding her close when I woke up. If I wanted to deny it that is...

I smirked and gently opened my eyes as I felt her breathing getting even and relaxed. She was asleep in my arms. I slowly moved the arm that wasn't around her waist to her hair. I gently removed her bangs from her face, looking down at her. She looked peaceful for the first time since I picked her up at the club. It felt like I was holding an angel. Cheesy, I know. I was turning in to Joe in the blink of an eye. But I didn't mind. I was falling head over heels for Hannah Reed and there was nothing I could do about it. And if she was dating that Andrew dude... I'd be her friend. Because she seemed to be in need of one at the moment. And I just couldn't walk away. Especially not after feeling how great it felt to hold her in my arms. I wished this night would never end.

-Hannah? I heard someone whispered at the door. My grip of Hannah tightened, I was ready to protect her from anything. I looked up to see a surprised Lisa. She dropped her jaw and took a step in to the room. I moved my free hand and pressed my index finger to my lips, hushing her and nodding towards the sleeping Hannah. Lisa hesitated but nodded slowly. Then she waved for me to come with her. I didn't want to let go. But I guess I had to. I carefully let go of Hannah and tucked her in. I hesitated a second before I leaned down and gave her cheek a quick peck, feeling Lisa's eyes burning in my back. I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen on her bedside table and left a note on her pillow. Then I grabbed my shoes of the floor and followed Lisa in to the hallway. She slowly closed the door and turned to me for an explanation.
- It's a long story, I said a bit embarrassed as I put my shoes on. Lisa nodded thoughtfully. And I didn't want to tell Lisa about Hannah's night.. that was up to Hannah herself.
- Well, at least you were both fully dressed... she tilted her head and chuckled at my flushed cheeks. - You're a good guy, Nick, she said as if she just realized it. - But would you please go home before my parents wake up? I gave her a quick nod and hurried out of the house. As I sat down in my car I couldn't stop a smile from creeping on to my lips.
