Two years worth of self education to reach this point, And now there is no excuse for poor sounding 78RPM on youtube, Ha!
$120 turntable(modified Gemini TT-1100USB) + $12 cartridge(Stanton 600 EEE) + $24 stylus that's a year old in use(3.5 mil) + $30 Radio shack parts for my Phono Amp + $ 24 mixer(xenyx-802) and $ 89 soundcard (M-Audio Audiophile 24 bit-96Khz).
$300 total investment so far

Noise Cancelation with Diamond Cut Pro 8 and Audcity Shareware

Presenting the Mark 12, completely optimized for 6 volt operation. Two 2n2907 pnp transistors in a Darlington arrangement, - 3.75V biased input, temperature stable with - 100 db of gain with a flat response 50Hz to 56kHz, Running off four C batteries.
I will post a video soon on how to build this phono amp but remember its' still rough theory with some tweaking.

And as always comments, questions or suggestions are always welcomed and appreciated.

Note @ 2:28 Frank Signorelli's piano solo style is of ragtime with a touch of Zez Confrey

  • If my memory serves me correctly, isn't "Railroad Man" by James P. Johnson?

  • @JCJasion Johnson cut a roll of the song but the credit still remains with Elmer Schoebel A Hot painist for Chicago Jazz bands in the early twenties and also wrote bugle call rag

  • @Zefrenm - I checked my LP collection and there it was, the very piano roll of which you speak, cut by James P himself. It was on a Biograph reissue.

Still plays nicely. I have one Dual 1218 that works and one that I'm getting ready to revitalized so that it will work. That one is the one I'm proposing to use to load stuff onto the computer. More on that in a few weeks. Right now, I'm in a work frenzy.

  • sound quality is excellent!!!
