  • My Lithgow is really rare. Its a JJNY import and all the numbrs match.JJNY was famous for slapping random parts together. She fires like a charm.

  • @usafisasome very nice. - thanks for your comment - jack

  • my bolt wont stay down, any reason why its such a problem with these?

  • @glynamus I'v never heard of that happening, might just need a really good clean - cheers - jacko

  • Nice rifle! I also have an SMLE from WWII. Have you tried grouping and zeroing it? I wasn't hitting anything with mine, but when I took it to a formal range, I got great groups with it (about 1/4 inch at 25 yards). I discovered that, while the rifle is quite accurate, the zero was very far off (about 18 inches high and 9 inches to the right at 100 yards). Now that I've adjusted the sights (it takes a special tool and some patience), it's hitting on target.

  • @fhsreelfilms yea defs mate. this rifle is almost 100 years old and it is still grouping pretty well. from the little paper shooting iv done with it it seems to hit paper out to about 400m fairly easly. im sure if we took it down to the range and sighted it in properly it would do heaps better

  • if that gun could talk...

  • had the rifle been oiled? looked bone dry to me but that's probably just the camera not showing it is all. How do you find the sights on the SMLE mate? The ghost ring of the no4 is dead good to use.

  • @Hell6125 You can own firearms in ANY part of Australia it does not matter at all, you just need the license to own them, to shoot them you need to shoot on large private land or state forrests

  • @archerkid94 I think it would cry thinking of galipoli.

  • Is it possible to own a SMLE in the city? With the permit and all but can you own one if you lived in the suburbs?

  • @SamLFisher Right, I was thinking the same thing. Springloaded? I thought. My No.4 is the same action. With the firing pin cocked it is under spring pressure on the sear. Opnening from a decocked postion, it doesn't spring back but it is very smoothe to operate. Much more fun than a mauser action.

  • Make sure you clean the rifle extremely well after shooting because its looks a little dirty
