Just added a wind meter to measure wind speed against the power generation of my Air-X 400w wind turbine. Just after sunrise the winds started to pick up and the day started. This shows how the wind speed affects power output from a wind turbine.

  • what kind of weather station do you have connected to the pole?

was looking at some on ebay and there expensive.

  • @crsbt - My weather station is a La Crosse Technologies WS-1613 Professional Weather Center with Wireless Transmitter and Receiver. It runs about $150.00 normally but I got it on Sale for $85.00. Works well but does not have a computer interface for collecting data so I have to enter it manually. National Geographic has a model simular in functions with a computer interface for $150.00. Next time I will go for somthing like that.

  • Great info thanks

  • @crsbt - Turbines are much more interesting to watch when they are working then solar panels! lol!

  • @NormanMcGregor

yeah i agree, wanted to try my hand at a turbine but wont be buying another.

  • @crsbt - The turbine needs a totally clean air path around it to work well. Trees, roof tops and such within about 200 meters, will just kill wind production. In areas with out constant strong winds, solar is a more effective option.

  • if you reduce the oscillation of tower(Use Guy wires) you will be able to generate more electricity.

  • @arena123ish - The system runs my 16 - 11 volt deck lights, 2 strings of 100 LCD patio lights for a few hours at night, electronic bug zapper all day, charges all my rechargable tools, flashlights, camera batteries and has lots of power left available for runing small tools like my drill and weed wacker when needed. It will charge a car battery with no problem at all!

  • @Briankey1960 - Visit their website at windenergy-com for info.

  • hi it would be nice to see inverter/battery in your video so people might understand a bit more. good thow
