Yes there are some sites that build MS specific application that are not standards compliant and you need IE for those. Download a firefox extension called IE Tab and you can then view any site in IE with out through FireFox. If it is a site you use often you can set it so it automatically puts that site in IE tab whenever you view it.
Continued-------So long as MS keeps developing non standard complaint apps there will be some need for IE but I am online 9-10 hours a day and I use IE perhaps 1 time every other day. The fox is just a much better browser.
