BTN premiered in 1969, was cancelled in 2003 and brought back in 2005.
-
Wow BTN is that old?
-
Well I can't recall NBN-3 Newcastle using them but that's not to say that they didn't use them
-
Great stuff, been wanting to see what they did for schools programmes in other countries for a while. Check out our British BBC and ITV schools clocks, there's loads on YouTube.

On "Scan", that creepy little guy is going to eat me in my sleep.
-
in Australia commercial stations used clocks eg. SAS10 Adelaide (dumped when they changed affiliation to Seven, some examples are on YouTube), GTS/BKN7 Port Pirie, GMV6 Shepparton (only at 7pm and closedown), BCV8 Bendigo (pre-colour), ATV0 Melbourne (1968, this is on Youtube), SES8 Mount Gambier (2 clocks in CST and EST), MTN9 Griffith (digital clock), NEN9 Tamworth (pre-Prime). Any others?

Our school was still using the Astor in 1982!! When I was in 3rd class.
-
Clocks were still used in 1995, in regional areas but since then all use has died out.

at 1:28, in the credits of BTN (cant believe that its still on), they're using the thick ABC logo
Does anyone know of any information on the net about the "Scan" series?

"Scan and "Behind the News" were both ABC educational programs produced in the 1970s. I recall watching both programs in 1974 and 75. The Moog synth instrumental theme tune to "Scan" was "Popcorn" released by Hot Butter. More info at memorabletv-dot-com

Do you by any chance have that first Scan program that appeared in full?

No. This is all we have. The person who inherited these tapes from his father, refused to send us the remaining ~ 100 1-hour reel-reel video tapes. We offered to pay all delivery charges, including a courier, but he wouldn't budge. He ended up trashing all the tapes. Quite a loss considering the rare 1974-76 ABC TV material.

What is that jingle saying at the beginning of the clip? It sounds like "Enlisted those shining bands", I know that isn't right!!

The promo tune was titled "Gray Days are Gone", which was a 1975 ABC TV clip promoting the B/W to colour transition. YouTube user 'telerecordings' has the full colour version of this clip.
