@jazzbest68 "ne me quitte pas" doesnt mean "if you go away" this is totally wrong ... it means "dont leave me"

therefor this song has other deepth than in english -it is better to translate the song for yourself ;) I know there are english versions they called "if you go away" but it is a wrong translation ;)

Dear 14monaros14, of course "ne me quitte pas" doesn't mean "if you go away" but it's under this tittle that the song is known in the englisch world like "Les Feuilles Mortes" is known as "Autumn Leaves" and not as "Dead Leaves"

@bursk89 I believe Toots plays a 14 hole instrument. I only have a 12 hole in front of me. On a 12 his first note is 4 draw. 4-4-(slide in 4-)4-4-; 4-4-(slide in4-)4-4-;3-3-4-3-3-;3-3-4-3-3­-, you should be able to figure out most of the rest of it from that...(it's how I just did). :) Just sit here with your instrument and keep replaying the video...play along with him. Let your ears tell you where the notes are. It's a great ear-training exercise.

@14monaros14 I think you have to realize the cadence of the song...the words 'ne-me-qui-tte-pas' fit the phrasing of the tune. 'Don't leave me' or even Do-not-lea-ve-me' doesn't work. So the English version was adapted/changed to 'If you go away' and rewritten to fit the tune and basically an entire new song created to suit the 'feeling' of the song and tune. It's been done before when an exact translation simply wouldn't sound 'right'. I'm assuming (hoping) Jacques Brel gave his approval?
