Finished animation for a school project. The Solar System.

Note: Celestial bodies' sizes, distances and speeds are not realistic.

There are stars in the background but the compression erased them so they are not really visible.

Music is:
Grains of Sound - "Siamese Twilight"
from the Rays of Life album,
http://www.GrainsOfSound.net/,
Produced/composed: Jason Sevanick & Chris Sevanick,
(C)2007 AlterCulture Records

Texture maps are from:
http://planetpixelemporium.com/

  • Hey!! Where the heck is Pluto? Solar system noob!

(noob being anyone who is new to the whole discovering outerspace thing and thinks that it isn't a planet too, still, even)

  • @originalprofundo

Pluto is right behind Neptune. Pay attention before you post!

  • It is not possible to make this project by POV-RAY :) ... Ok, I believe you, very good work, it was your thesis!?!?!?

  • @chesstiger24

too small for a thesis. just one of the ordinary courseworks. i've done more jaw-dropping animations in pov-ray. unfortunately most of my projects never get finished due to lack of time.

  • Well jupiter should be bigger than that if jupiter can fit 1000 earth's in it.

  • @electrocatalyst lol...

  • POV-Ray rocks!

  • Haha.. Jupiter was in a hurry. Spinning about 10x faster than in reality.

    But good work nevertheless :-)

I made a simple submarine for my computer graphics lecture, you can see it at my space.

This is a simple file, I am a beginner at the pov-ray :) but you are an expert...
