Public enemy...or poor judgement?
First it was a moose in Burlington. Now it's a beagle in Tupper Lake. Another case of an animal gunned down....and more questions about why.
Nine-year old Wilson was an indoor dog who got out of the house while his master was at work.
Bad move.
You see, the postman complained that Wilson chased him. He pepper-sprayed the dog and called the cops.
Wilson didn't take kindly to a faceful of pepper spray, so he bared his teeth and growled at the officer.
Another bad move.
The cop decided that Wilson represented such a threat to public safety that the use of deadly force was in order. So he used it. Not once. Not twice. Three times.
Three shots to take out a small, nine-year old housepet who was frightened, half-blinded and had no history of ever having bitten anyone.
Seems like overkill to us. And to Wilson's grieving owner, whose beloved beagle will never meet him at the door again.
We're sorry, Wilson.
That's our opinion. What's yours?
