I am so lost after the first 4 measures. When he switches to the 4th chord what is going on with the finger position? Is he playing every other note?
Also does he move to the a string?

The sound should be about the same. The difference is the string tuning. Bass strings are tuned in fourths, fiddle strings in fifths.

I regret I don't have time to watch my video again to attempt to understand your questions. The first four bars are all the same chord.
This may be a little too advanced right now, but next year it may all make sense.

I would like to hear a stroh violin.
I looked it up in Wikipedia. It has a horn like thing coming out of it. Can you see a group of these marching around on the football field?
Awesome.
