We made it through another abalone season. The rough water and thick kelp kept most of the divers out of the ocean last month. For some reason we saw some crazy divers this year. Maybe global warming has led to valley fever. Have you witnessed or been involved in a near death experience? We used a Nokia 6212 to read and display an abalone diving video from a tagged ocean sport fishing booklet.

  • It looks like he did fine and didn't struggle in the water. He was fine up the cliff. You should video your self diving and show us the proper way.

The reason the Asian people up in nor cal drown more than the others is because most other divers care about the limits and size regulations and dive where it is legal. A lot of the Asians and others too but mainly Asians poach and clean the abs in the water and stuff em in their suit. They overfished and destroyed food populations in their countr

  • PS. Look at those puny waves, not enough to do any major damage, maybe a little scrape. I can understand if the waves were bigger. I guess this is good to scare the beginner divers.

  • Reason he didn't use fin is because it wasn't deep enough? I can still see his feet when he dives. I usually dive around 5-6feet of water and I dont use fins because they get in the way, and it has worked fine... Ab diving is not that dangerous.... This guy made it sound like ab diving for kids.. If you see water crashing into a rock... Pick a different spot.. If u see a shit load of kelp, move to a different spot... Just use your brain and stay away from harms way. If you can't tell from right

  • Idiots! These guys have absolutely ZERO clue what they are doing! NEVER teather yourself to anything! Are you asking to get tangled and drown?? Dont climb a cliff in a wetsuit...though it may add some padding if you slip, your brains become crab chow.

Folks, use this video to verify you DONT do anything these twits are doing!

  • these guys are asking for trouble, never tie yourself to ANYTHING when your ab diving

  • racist ):

  • This video might save some friends or Asians rockpickers/divers lives!

My friends & Experienced divers, agreeds that this style of getting Abalone is a very dangerous techniques to use, should stop & take some proper dive training.

  • How do one jusitify that most of the drowning up North are Asians. This is probably why & lack of proper Diving safety training!

  • Hey Monto, is that Salt Point? I know that cliff. I use a ratcheting cable clamp to tie my float onto a nearby bull kelp. It works really well for me. Goodluck, and maybe I'll see you up there! -R

  • lol he doesn't have any fins! Must have forgot them at home. But you called these guys crazy divers? On a rougher day I'd might agree with you, but that looked pretty safe to me. Tying the float to himself was probably the most dangerous thing he did.
